The Inklings

What if evolution is true? Does modern brain research suggest that human intelligence is adapting to technology in a way that forever changes what it means to be human? If the next generation is using different parts and more of their brains, what does it mean for previous generations?

When the Bible says, "it is destined for man once to die," does that mean the body or the soul? If the soul lives forever, perhaps it would want to take another spin in another body, either for fun or guilt or adventure or fear. And if a soul could take another trip through life, would that really change what happened at the cross?

If a democracy is government by the people for the people and an empire is government by the leaders for the money, what does that make the US? And does it mean that one politician is as bad as any other, regardless of party affiliations? How long did it take for the Roman empire to fall, and are we following it's footsteps?

Is the climate really changing on a global scale? Does man have anything to do with it? Or are we just ants in a field whose impact is negligible and easily eliminated? If it can happen to the dinosaurs, why can't human history be erased as easily?

Somedays, homesickness finds it's way into every single breath. And all one really wants is another soul with which to share ideas about the deep things. Most of the time, home is the only place to do so without ridicule and judgement.

So sorry about this, but I can't resist sharing it with you nice folks:

Experts Peruse Peru's Old Poos

Funniest Thing I've Read This Year

"[She's] on a first-name basis with the Holy Spirit."

"The Holy Spirit has a first name?"

"Al, of course. You can call Him Al."

**Bonus points to the first person who can identify the musical reference.

That's Better

Finally a Spring Template I can live with. It's amazing what one can accomplish when one spends a few hours toying with the code.

I adjusted the "Summer Breeze" template from Arcsin Templates. It wasn't originally designed for Blogger, but with a few dozen adjustments it could be adapted for my purposes. I hope you all like it as much as I do.

All the World's a Blur

Mar 21, 2007

I'm doing tons of business travel in Washington and Oregon these days. The miles - you have no idea. But, I've learned a few important things:

#1: Highway rest stops in Washington have toilet seat covers and auto-flushers. They also have Wi-Fi and recycle bins and free coffee.

#2: In Eastern Washington, they have a phenomenon called frozen rain, not to be confused with freezing rain. Frozen rain occurs in 50 degree weather and the drops are bigger than sleet, smaller than hail, and light as snow. It looks like millions of tiny styrofoam balls blowing around everywhere. And they make big splats on the windshield. Weird.

#3: If you drive enough miles on enough country roads, you will dream about driving many more miles on strange country roads. There is no rest for the weary traveler.

#4: Audiobooks make the miles disappear. And, as a bonus, they keep those miles from feeling lonely.

#5: A T-mobile day-pass (from Starbucks) can be used at ANY Starbucks during those 24 hours. This means, you can get online in Spokane in the morning, log off for travel & customer visits, and then get back online in Seattle in the evening - without having to pay for access again.

Pink Insanity

Mar 18, 2007

Ok, so we're back to the white template of Winter '07. For now, at least. I just couldn't stand one more moment of pinkness.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I'm not really a "pink girl" - if you know what I mean. My home is not decorated in ribbons and bows, nor my wardrobe, and definitely NOT my office.

My house is mostly white, as a matter of fact. Antique white paint, eggshell carpet, beige tile, cream upholstery. Except the cat - she's black. And the furniture, which is dark wood. Just ask Leah, she'll tell you.

Too pink. Can't post. Must change template. Soon.

Spring Has Sprung

Mar 4, 2007

What with daffodils blooming and trees sprouting new leaves and the Easter Bunny on its way, I thought now's a good time for a fresh, Spring look to the ol' blog. Enjoy it while it lasts because this template is probably too soft and feminine and PINK *yikes!* for me handle for very long.
