Half the World

Jun 28, 2010

Half the world cries
Half the world laughs
Half the world tries
To be the other half

Half of us divided
Like a torn-up photograph
Half of us are trying
To reach the other half

- Rush, excerpted from Half the World

Sarah Says:

I love the imagery of the photograph. And so true, we all want the greener grass, better this or that, I think this chokes out our joy and more importantly our hope--all this getting and getting. I think Henry David Thoreau said "we have become a tool of our tools." Constantly needing, wanting to replace/maintain what we don't need. Love it!

Yes, the photograph imagery gets me every time. For me, the lyrics really hint at what separates us, and subtly encourages us to ignore our differences.

If we're trying to reach the other half, they're trying to reach us, too.
